Turn Your Cat into a Beautiful Portrait with Art Your Cat

If you’re anything like me, then cat-themed décor and knick-knacks fill your home. I also have a few pieces of cat artwork throughout the house (how about you?). I’ve often seen those companies that will turn your cat into a piece of art. So, when Art Your Cat reached out for a collaboration, I jumped at the chance!

Disclosure: We received four canvas portraits for free from Art Your Cat in order to share our experience. Cat Lady Alley only shares information we feel would be relevant to readers. Art Your Cat is not responsible for the content of this post.

The Portrait Process with Art Your Cat

Getting started with your personalized cat artwork is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

  1. Visit Art Your Cat to browse the portrait options.
  2. Choose between Digital or a Canvas Print.
  3. Upload your cat’s image!

Okay, so step 3 is actually a little more involved. It took me a while to choose the photos I wanted for my four cats. I didn’t want to choose the photo before knowing which portrait background I’d be using. That helped me determine the head placement in the photos, if that makes sense.

A couple of days later, Art Your Cat emailed a proof of each canvas. I only had one change request for Olive’s portrait regarding her whiskers. They made the adjustment, and a new proof was sent.

Canvas Size Options

As mentioned above, you can choose to receive a digital portrait. But if you want a physical portrait to hang, you have three canvas sizes to choose from:

  • Small: 8 x 10 inches
  • Medium: 12 x 16 inches
  • Large: 18 x 24 inches

I selected the 8 x 10 option. The canvas has hooks on the back for hanging on the wall. But it also stands easily on a shelf by itself.

The Photos I Selected

Here’s a look at the photos I selected for each cat.

Dexter is our dreamer cat, and I thought this photo suited him well. You’ll see why when I show his portrait.

Olive’s expression doesn’t change much from photo to photo. My challenge with her photo was to find one that fit the direction of the portrait. I couldn’t do it, but Art Your Cat was able to adjust it appropriately.

While Sophie is a beautiful white cat with pretty blue eyes, she’s our biggest goofball. So, I chose to select a photo of her being goofy instead of showing off her beauty.

Woodrow recently had a dental procedure that required removing his upper fangs. Consequently, his upper lip often gets caught on his lower fangs. I thought it would be funny to choose the “Vampire” portrait since he no longer has upper fangs.
