How to Bake the Cutest Cookies for a Cat Lady

Are you ready to bake some cookies with this cute cat rolling pin that will surely please any cat lady? Or if you’re not a baker, it would make a great gift for a cat lover.

I’ll admit it. I do not cook homemade meals often. However, I am known for baking a pretty decent cookie. And the baker in me fell in love with a cat-themed item that I had to add to my assortment of kitchen accessories – this cat rolling pin from Sweet Rolling Pins! I placed my order online and added a cat mixing spoon for good measure. It shipped within the hour!

Baking Cookies for a Cat Lady

When the rolling pin arrived, I had to figure out which cookie recipe to test it out with. While any roll-out cookie recipe would do, I decided to try the peanut butter cookie recipe that came with the pin.

Not only did I use the fabulous cat rolling pin, but I also dug out some cat-shaped cookie cutters that I’d received as a gift from a friend.

Then, I got to mixing, rolling, cutting, shaping, baking…and of course cooking-consuming!

Shout out to “Cathy of Wisconsin” for the recipe that came with the cat rolling pin. If you’re interested in trying it, this is the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 3/4 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 extra large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp salt (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3 to 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Directions

In a large mixing bowl, cream together peanut butter, softened butter, brown sugar, white sugar and eggs until well blended.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt and baking powder. Add 1/4 cup of the flour mixture at a time until the dough pulls away from the mixing bowl. Gently knead the dough together before rolling it out.

With a regular rolling pin, roll a small portion of dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 1/4 inch. With the engraved cat rolling pin, lightly roll once over the flattened dough. Cut to desired shapes.

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 7 to 10 minutes or until the top of the cookie looks dry.

A few years ago, a friend gave me the cat cookie cutters that I used with this recipe, and that set of cutters is the first one pictured below. I noticed that the box description says six cookie cutters, but it’s actually only five. One cat must’ve escaped! Check out the cookie cutters I used on Amazon.
